The College of African Wildlife Management (MWEKA), founded in 1963 is a center of excellence in professional and technical wildlife and tourism management training in Africa. It is registered with the National Council of Technical Education (NACTE) in Tanzania and recognized by the East African Community (EAC) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC). It is situated 14 km from Moshi town on
the southern slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro.
1. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:-
• Head of the Finance Department
• Prepares and reviews accounting manuals, policies and procedures.
• Prepares the College final account and submits the same to external auditors for auditing, after the guidance of the Deputy Rector Planning, Finance and Administration.
• Initiates recommendations, proposals, change and improvement in work procedure in the Finance Department.
• Ensures that accounting functions are carried out in accordance with financial and procurement regulations.
• Prepares budget and budgetary control system and ensures that College programmes are implemented according to the approved budget.
• Streamlines, standardizes and monitors existing financial system, policies and procedures.
• Ensures timely and consistent accurate budgeting and financial reporting internally and to the Government and donors.
• Ensures high standard of book keeping, financial accounting procurement and assets management.
• Formulates and ensures that financial management plans are developed, implemented and monitored.
• Formulates and implements the College’s financial regulations, policies and procedures.
• Ensures that debts are paid on time and the College revenues are collected.
• Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
• Ensures that statutory deductions and tax administration are efficiently and promptly carried out.
• Builds and guides a competent and committed team of employees in the Finance Department.
• Performs any other duties as may be assigned.
• Reports to the Deputy Rector Planning, Finance and Administration.
2. Qualification
• Holder of a Bachelor Degree in any of the following disciplines: Commerce (Accountancy/Finance), Business Administration (Accountancy or Finance) or Advanced Diploma in Accountancy with CPA (T), ACCA or ACA from a recognized institution.
• Registered with NBAA in the category of certified Public Accountant
• Strong Computer literacy with knowledge and use of financial management software is essential
• Knowledge of Pastel Evaluation Accounting Package/Software is essential
Experience
• At least four (4) years of working experience, must be in a Senior Financial
Management position.
• SALARY SCALE: PGSS 21
